This past Friday Trinity welcomed over 30 students from Lake Eola Charter School and Trinity Lutheran School to participate in Trinity’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes club, “FCA Fridays.” Students of all ages received their new FCA theme t-shirts, Trinity’s back-to-school backpack blessing tags, and a snack, and then enjoyed an afternoon of fun and fellowship learning about God and one another. This is our third year offering “FCA Fridays” at Trinity Downtown with TLS teachers Mrs. Struhs and Miss Jones leading the group.
The FCA club theme this year is ONE (Philippians 1:27). FCA summarizes the theme in this way:
“There is great impact when Christian athletes stand together as ONE. And in sports, there is great passion and power in the idea of one. Everyone wants to be the one at the top. When athletes narrow their focus and teams unite around one common goal, the results are unstoppable. As Christian athletes, we can accomplish so much more together for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ with one mind, one purpose and one goal.”
Philippians 1:27: Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.
This FCA theme resonates with Trinity’s mission and purpose as well as our campus-wide theme “REAL.PRESENT.GOD.” – the ONE who is our refuge and strength, and an ever present help in trouble! (Psalm 46:1) We’re looking forward to a fun-filled year for students in FCA Fridays, where faith and athletics are united at TLS, to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
