Today (Monday, March 30), the Middle School music class welcomed Ms. Danielle Smith to share a bit about a very special summer music program and to lead the students in some fun music exercises and games.  However, Ms. Smith is no stranger to the Trinity music room as she offers voice and piano lessons in this very space.

Not only that, Ms. Smith is also on the Central Florida Vocal Arts staff…a group that has held rehearsals and camps in our sanctuary and music room.  CFL Vocal Arts (CFLVocalArts.com) is a group of incredibly talented musicians who, among many other things, host a fantastic summer institute for children ages 8-18.  This summer, the camp will take place during the beginning of July and will culminate in a production of an original show entitled, “From Wonderland to Neverland.”

During this week long camp, students will study vocal repertoire, acting skills, show production and design, and much more as they learn songs from Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and pop songs that you may hear on the radio.  I have had the pleasure of observing their camp personally two years ago (their inaugural institute) and these musicians are profession musicians and educators…I was blown away at what they could and, more importantly, what they could get their kids to do!

Please take a short minute to peruse the CFL Vocal Arts Institute webpage and contact Ms. Smith or any other staff person listed on their page for more information.  While this event is not a Trinity sanctioned event, we do have Trinity people involved (Josh Wilson: 9:30 worship band leader, Holly Sahmel: 9:30 worship band vocalist, Danielle Smith: after school voice and piano teacher), so they receive my personal seal of approval!  They offer special need based scholarships too, so there is no reason not to check it out!
