Trinity Lutheran School’s VPK and Kindergarten students met in the sanctuary to hear a special story about how deliberate acts of kindness can leave a lasting impression. Teachers read the book “Heartprints” by P.K. Hallinan and students learned all the ways that being kind can create heartprints on others.
After the reading, students had a chance to think about how they have been kind or how others have shown kindness toward them. Teachers helped each child record their examples on a small heart. Everyone left the sanctuary with a heart to take with them–so they could give it away with an act of kindness that would spread love this February. Ms. Dalene and Ms. Haven’s students took the lesson one step further by creating heartprint magnets and passing them out to teachers & support staff around the school.
Before leaving the sanctuary, Ms. Kathryn asked students to share a way that Jesus has left his heartprint on each of us. “By dying on the cross for us,” one student answered. The greatest heartprint of all.
