Garden of Adventure VPK students and teachers have been hard at work making no-sew fleece blankets for homeless children in Orange County Public Schools. This hands-on project was created so that the kids could have a deeper connection with and better understanding of what we were doing – giving rather than receiving, and experiencing the joy of creating something to give to someone in need. The class talked about how God has blessed each of them with so many wonderful things and that we are called by God to share those blessings with others. You can see from the expressions on their faces that they really enjoyed this project!
The blankets were handed out to the neediest children and families as Christmas gifts, along with a collection of toothbrushes, toothpaste and socks to be used as stocking stuffers.
Many thanks to Thrivent Financial for the Action Team Grant which allowed us to purchase the supplies for the blankets, and to teachers Mrs. Liz, Mrs. Jeanie and Ms. Lindsay for encouraging their studetns to share the love of Christ and experience the joy of giving during the Christmas season.
