Your Parent Teacher League (PTL) has been hard at work this quarter planning, reruiting for and executing some fantastic community events here at Trinity Downtown.  During National Lutheran Schools week, celebrating Trinity Lutheran School’s infant through 8th grade school ministry, we saw amazing school spirit, and wonderful parent and grandparent involvement on campus.  We are so fortunate to have our PTL board and a pool of dedicated volunteers to make these fun family events happen seemlessly for everyone at Trinity.

* The book fair was on campus this week for National Lutheran Schools Week. Students browsed the many books and made wish lists in preparation for shopping with family and friends. The book fair was open during the school day with extended hours for Kindergarten Round up and Family Science Night.

* Around 300 grandparents came to Trinity to be celebrated on Grandparent’s Day! The day began with a wonderful breakfast in the courtyard provided by Mr. Poole, then classroom visits where grandparents participated in crafts and activities. Mrs. Malenke and Mr. Howard led VPK and K-8 students in song during a chapel service as Grandparent’s Day came to a close.

* An estimated 80 parents and students attended Trinity’s annual Family Science Night. Fifteen different experiment & activity stations provided by the Orlando Science Center allowed students to explore the field of “engineering.” Students had the opportunity to build rockets and earthquake-safe bridges, design marble tracks and parachutes, use wind to power cars, experiment with circuits to power fans and lights, and explore many other engineering concepts. We also raffled 2 sets of tickets to the Orlando Science Center and some pretty cool posters!

Thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered and supported PTL efforts to make all these events happen.
