We had a successful Fire Drill this week!  The entire campus cleared the buildings in just about 3 minutes; not too bad for our first attempt.  There were a few tears, and we had to wake a few babies, but it all went very smoothly.

Voters Meeting

Trinity’s Voters will meet on Sunday, September 22, at 12:30 pm (directly following the 11:00 worship service) in the Sanctuary.  We would like to invite our TLS families to join us as we discuss the calling of a Campus Family and Youth Pastor.  We visualize this Associate Pastor primarily ministering to the families who are on our campus throughout the week, so we would love to have input from our non-member TLS parents.  This is a special voters meeting that is only concerned with this single issue.  Please join us!

 A GOULISH REQUEST

Well, actually we are looking for a person who would like to coordinate the arrangements for the Florida Blood Center Blood Mobile to visit Trinity’s campus.  This is a very easy task and requires someone to use their telephone or email to connect with the blood bank and schedule 4 visits for the year.  Call Deaconess Liz 407-488-1919 X 127 to volunteer or inquire.

PTL Fees

On Monday, your statement will reflect the invoice for the yearly $40 PTL fee. It will be billed in addition to your weekly tuition next Friday, 9/6. If you have already paid the fee for this year, you will not be billed twice.

Race for Education

On Friday, October 25, 2013, Trinity Lutheran School will be participating in our Fourth Annual Race for Education. We’re excited that students from our 1 year old rooms up to the 8th grade will all participate! We invite family and friends to join us in helping to raise funds in order to continue to provide a quality education and affordable tuition. Each participant will raise funds by asking sponsors to contribute a tax deductible donation. Students may walk or jog around a designated area as many times as they are able in their allotted time. Students and classes will also have an opportunity to receive a number of prizes based on their participation in the Race for Education. Specific instructions are contained in the material sent home this week. Mailing labels are due by  Friday, September 6th. Please join us in this very special event. We look forward to seeing you on October 25!

Substitute Teachers Needed

The K-8 classes are looking to add more teachers to our substitute list.  Candidates must have a college degree (minimum of an AA/AS) to apply. If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please contact Cathy Fuller at cfuller@trinitydowntown.org to apply.

Parent Teacher League (PTL)

All parents of children attending Trinity Lutheran School are encouraged to become active participants in the PTL.  All families are members of the PTL and  the dues are part of your student’s registration fee.  The purpose of the PTL is to offer Christian help and guidance for parents, to bring the home, the church and the school into a closer relationship and to work in the interest of Christian education in Trinity Lutheran School.

The following PTL events are coming up and we still need volunteers for them.

These are great opportunities to earn volunteer hours (P.R.I.C.E. hours for K-8 Parents)  and have fun! Sign in sheets are available at the front office.

*  Grandparents Day Event, Wednesday, September 11th – Please contact Jamie Erpenbach at jamieerp@gmail.com

*  Fall Book Fair, September 10-12th – Please contact Lynn Hoctor at lhoctor@earthlink.net.  See article below for more information.

The PTL General Meeting will be held on September 26th at 6:00pm.  All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about what our PTL does and what parents can do to get involved!  We would love to see you there to share our plans for the new year and what we accomplished with last year events.

* Coming Soon:  Touch-A-Truck, Saturday, November 23rd. We are working on the planning stage of this event. Several committees have been formed and you can help us make this one the best yet!   If you own a business or know someone that can donate anything to help us, we will greatly appreciate it.  Please contact Diane Perez at dmperez13@gmail.com.

* Touch a Truck T-shirt sales – help needed on Thursdays after school to sell shirts.  Great way to earn PRICE hours!

 Fall Book Fair

We are in need of volunteers to help with set-up, decorating Fellowship Hall and running the register during the day for the Fall Book Fair. The bookfair will be open during Grandparents Day and we expect to be extremely busy during this time. Extra volunteers are needed between 8:30am and 11:30am that morning (September 11th). This event is less than a week away! A sign-up sheet is located in the front office. This is a great way to earn some of your P.R.I.C.E. hours. Set up begins on Monday, September 9th. The book fair will be Tuesday, September 10th – Thursday, September 12th. If you are interested in helping with the event please contact Lynn Hoctor at lhoctor@earthlink.net  or Cathy Fuller at cfuller@trinitydowntown.org.
