Pre-K-4/VPK
Ratio: 1:10Trinity’s CDC has been involved with the state funded Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) program since its inception. We were one of the original pilot programs and continue to excel in preparing young children for Kindergarten.
VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills. By developing the skills children need to become strong readers and students at an early age, children are more likely to be successful in school. VPK classroom offer high-quality programs that include high literacy standards, developmentally appropriate curricula, manageable class sizes and qualified teachers.
Transitional Kindergarten is designed to bridge the gap between preschool and Kindergarten providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children who may need additional time to prepare or have just missed the cut of September 1. Offering a balanced approach between play-based learning and structured activities that promote early literacy, math and social emotional development. The focus is on foundational skills while keeping in mind that the children may require more time to adjust to formal education. The focus in each area is as follows:
Language and Literacy:
- Phonological awareness
- Letter recognition and vocabulary building
- Storytelling to support learning
Mathematics:
- Number sense
- Patterns
- Shapes
- Problem solving
Creative and Physical Development
- Opportunities for art, music, and physical activities are integrated to foster creativity and motor skills
Social and Emotional Development:
- Focus on relationships with peers and teachers
- Managing emotions
- Cooperation
- Resolving conflict
- Self-regulation
Our readiness ratings are among some of the highest in the tri-county area. We are committed to maintaining a high quality classroom. Our lead teachers all hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and are at the forefront of the latest research in child development.
